Boundary spanning: Its role in trust development between stakeholders in integrated water resource management

This study sheds light on the importance of boundary spanners in developing conditions that foster trust between stakeholders integrated water resource management (IWRM). Boundary routinely reach across organizational borders to build interconnections and interdependencies order manage complex problems, inform policy, encourage knowledge sharing. The spanning role has been shown business practices, urban planning, higher education yet little research exists its impact IWRM. mixed methods approach used this involved surveying interviewing individuals with previous experience IWRM Nebraska. results survey indicated behavior predicted a large percentage variance stakeholders. Further exploration revealed spanning, cooperation, power imbalance, scale mismatch were predictors building conditions. In addition, authentic leadership, autonomy, trustworthiness spanners' ability establish stakeholders, being strongest predictor. qualitative phase included interviews thirteen who participated online scored high behaviors. interview analysis resulted seven themes, which strongly support promising play fostering within paper reflects spanner management, demonstrates effectiveness development conditions, encourages more how better identify train assist co-production knowledge.
